The Nike Air Max Plus Sports Cybernetic “Dark Obsidian”

Even as the Nike Air Max Plus has become an increasingly common sight in the Nike mainline, it hasn’t lost its fastball nor its ability to surprise. While gradient looks remain the most reliable way for Sean McDowell’s design to put the ball in play, its biggest hits come when it thinks outside of the box, exactly the case with the Air Max Plus “Dark Obsidian.”
To be clear, ombre treatments aren’t entirely absent from this design, but it’d be off-base to regard them as the central design feature. Instead, that’d be the navy and white grid arrangement on the upper, shifting and bending as the shoe’s geometry shifts from heel to toe. Much of the action outside of that centers around the midfoot, where the gridlines intersect to a glowing finish, “Blue Chill” tones enter the mix on the Swoosh and shank. and the TPU waves begin a move from pure white to jet black.
The Nike Air Max Plus “Dark Obsidian” releases on June 13th in Asia. It’s unclear when to expect the pair to land stateside, but we’ll keep this page and our Sneaker Release Dates hub updated with the latest as it comes.
