Moncler Fall/Winter 2025 Footwear Preview

Moncler’s footwear game saw a sudden shift when it scooped long-time footwear design veteran Nathan VanHook back in 2020. Best known for his tenure with the Swoosh, VanHook oversaw footwear design across several categories, from casual walkers to on-field cleats. Of course, the one sneaker he’s best known for is the revolutionary Air Yeezy 2, the shoe collaboration that single-handedly changed sneaker culture.

Nate’s distinguished vision continued with Moncler, and it didn’t take long for his work to formulate. In 2022, Moncler launched the new Trailgrip footwear line, its most important step into the footwear industry to date. There were immediate comparisons made to what I believe is Nate’s best Nike shoe — the ACG Antarktik. The Trailgrip appears like a sneaker sitting inside a mega-armored sole that is way faster than it looks. The toe-to-heel rocker that has the traction surface scoop above the toe might be one of his signatures, seen across several of his outdoor-focused designs with the Swoosh. Since the debut of the Trailgrip family, Moncler has steadily grown its catalog while expanding its collaborative outreach to link with the likes of Salehe Bembury, Zellerfeld, and now Tobe Nwigwe.

On June 5th, Moncler invited select media, influencers, and fashion mavens to higher altitudes, setting up a secret space on the entire 41st floor of a downtown NYC high-rise. This was Moncler Studio Ascenti’s third edition of this activation, bringing their open-format experience to the U.S. for the first time. The night immediately began with everyone swapping out their kicks for their very own pair of Monclers (each guest received a random pair); for thirty minutes, guests wandered the massive space, taking on-foot photos throughout the Scenic Wear Testing Zones. Included into the fabricated settings were massive photo studios with giant LED displays of mountain-tops placed opposite the panoramic views of NYC.

After brief introduction by Maurice Kamara of @thepeoplegallery_, guests were led to a product breakdown of new silhouettes like the Moncler Altive (new for Fall/Winter 2025), Trailgrip LP (Spring 2026), and Trailgrip Apex2 GTX (new for FW25). A preview of the new and current models is just below.

Following the product experience was a live performance by Tobe Nwigwe, who just dropped his first collaboration with Moncler in late May, contemporary artist Jessy Nite led a snake knot tying workshop to a room full of city folk.

Needless to say, Moncler is serious about their aspirations in footwear. With an unmatched reputation in functional outdoor gear (that happens to be worn for fashionable purposes), Moncler has the opportunity to enter a distinct category of luxury outdoor and headline the ever-trending category.
