Nike Pegasus 41 Waffle Racer IH3583-999

For Nike, it all starts with running. In connecting the models of today with the icons of the past, the Beaverton brand is coming out with a slew of new styles inspired by runners from the Nike archive. We got a whole “Ekiden” collection inspired by the Zoom Streak Spectrum last year, but there’s still plenty more to come. The Pegasus Premium is pulling from the Nike Cortez and MayFly, the Vaporfly 4 recently surfaced in a colorway inspired by Steve Prefontaine’s Pre Montreal, and for our purposes, the Pegasus 41 has emerged in a style inspired by the legendary Waffle Racer from the 1970s.
Mimicking an original Waffle Racer colorway, the sneaker adopts an “Oregon” palette. Shades of “Vivid Green” and “Dark Apple” land on the base, which includes added “panels” over the toe and heel to match the Waffle Racer’s composition. A black Swoosh logo is incorporated within the mesh material, overlaid by a clear, standard Swoosh around the quarter. A new pre-dirtied tongue is included, complemented by a pre-yellowed streak on the midsole and noticeable discoloration across the base. The sneaker is part of a larger “Nike International” running series,
As all Nike heads know, the Waffle Racer was the byproduct of Bill Bowerman taking a waffle iron to a piece of rubber; an ambitious experiment that turned into one of the most important running shoe innovations ever. The Pegasus 41 keeps that Nike heritage in play with a waffle-inspired rubber outsole, although it’s of course been tuned for the 21st century. ReactX foam is utilized in the midsole, complemented by Air Zoom in the forefoot and heel.
The Nike Pegasus 41 “Waffle Racer” is expected to release during the Fall 2025 shopping season, meaning between July-September. See official images below if you’re thinking about scooping these up.
